It seems that the world gets worse and worse each week, with recent events in America being particularly disheartening. I wish I had some words of encouragement, but that’s not where my head is right now. Instead, here are Albums of the Day for the past week – largely chosen with the intent of keeping myself grounded. Beautiful, hauntng, and ethereal, I was a big fan of Mirror Breathing upon release, and it has lost none of its power.
Something a bit different; Book of Leaves is wonderful solo piano music, from modern classical composter Rachel Grimes.
Whereas Contempt is the sound of wounds that won’t heal, of bad memories that refuse to fade, of utter fucking despair.
A screamo classic, As the Roots Undo is as moving as it is ambitious, constantly switching between ideas and sounds.
And, to see us out, is Plague of Ignorance; DSBM of the bleakest, most hateful kind.
