Album of the Day: Black Sabbath – Sabbath Bloody Sabbath

Label: Vertigo Records

Sabbath Bloody Sabbath is Black Sabbath‘s best album.

I’m sure that you have your own response to that – quite possibly along the lines of “but what about…”, and odds are, whichever album you name is also Black Sabbath’s best album (especially if you named something like Mob Rules or Heaven and Hell). But Sabbath Bloody Sabbath is, for me, the point at which all the parts of early Black Sabbath – the blues-infused riffs and hooks, the acoustic interludes, and the absolute heaviness – came together in the best way. The title track; ‘A National Acrobat’; ‘Sabbra Cadabra’ – hell, I could practically name every track. This is one of those rare albums that is absolutely perfect.

Sabbath Bloody Sabbath can be picked up from any halfway decent record store; and can be streamed on Spotify.
